On Wednesday (May 28), Kings of Leon announced the cancellation of their entire European summer tour after frontman Caleb Followill sustained a serious foot injury. Followill shattered his heel while playing with his kids, and underwent emergency surgery. He faces an approximate eight-week recovery period, which forces the band to forgo their upcoming headlining shows and festival performances scheduled throughout Europe, which was scheduled to start in Paris on June 10 and finish on July 12 in Portugal. “I’ve broken my foot bad playing with my kids. I’ll spare you the details, but it was pretty gnarly,” Followill shared in an Instagram video. “It’s a big bummer because we were so excited and had been preparing for this tour for a long time.” Despite this setback, Kings of Leon are still scheduled to headline two nights at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey in July, followed by a series of festival appearances in August and September.
